Every phase of the making, from the moulding to the final decoration, followed the best artisanal tradition of the Italian ceramic making. The pyramidal vase with narrow neck is part of the exclusive line named “Black clay and Fire” handcrafted by master Giuseppe Liberati.
During one of his most remarkable artistic moments, the Master Giuseppe Liberati made a series of pieces in modern ceramic that we can call “Black Clay and Fire”. For the occasion, the Master decided to use a particular black clay, that is much harder to be shaped compared to the others. The technical skills of the Italian Master Giuseppe Liberati, combined with his creative and artistic flair, make him able to shape (with his hands or with the help of the potter’s wheel) complex and captivating shapes that, in this case, he decided to colour with a minimal and linear touch with the shades of orange. Semi-refractory clays, also called “Semire clays” are particular mixtures that can be included in the category of the “unconventional” ceramics.
This particular type of black clay, is suitable for the creation of decorative or artistic works. Vases and bottles which are part of this series, can be distinguished for their refined shapes: pyramidal, cylindrical, rounded or with very narrow or very large necks. Alternatively to traditional shapes, the series “Black Clay and Fire” suggests a selection of unique and non-reproducible pieces. For the final decoration, as a tribute to one of the key elements in the ceramic making, i.e. Fire, the artist used a vivid orange glaze that, brushed on the engravings of the clay, makes a striped motif on every work, creating an unique and fascinating effect.
The colour starts from the bottom and then, rising to the top, gives the feeling of a bottle-embracing fire, like it emerged from volcanic lava. The black clay decor vase Narrow Pyramid is an unique piece, this makes it a refined design object with a great artistic depth.
