Refractory clay centerpiece
Refractory clay centerpiece with thick crystals and platinum
The ceramic centerpiece is made of red refractory clay, decorated with thick crystals and platinum, cooked using the three-phase firing technique. The artefact was entirely modelled by hand and has a great and unique artistic value. The centerpiece making was entirely artisanal, following the best potter’s wheel techniques while processing the refractory red clay. When the clay was leather-hard, the artefact has been finished by hand and naturally dried.
Refractory clay is part of the so-called “special” clays because it has a high-temperature resistance. The effect obtained using this kind of clay is rough to the touch but, after being glazed, the surface becomes smoother and its natural color is a warm red. After the first cooking phase, called “biscuit”, some blue thick crystals have been added to the red base, then the centerpiece has been enriched with platinum finishings cooked using the three-phase firing technique. The decoration pattern has been studied in order to have a significant effect in every detail.
The red clay centerpiece is entirely hand-decorated. The contrast between the rough effect of the refractory ceramic and the smooth platinum lines of the decoration create a sensation of elegance and richness not only by sight but also by touch. The centerpiece is a unique piece and has Master Liberati’s signature on it. When purchasing this item, there will be attached a Guarantee certificate as a warranty of the uniqueness of the product.
