Raku ceramic centrepiece, “serie H”
Raku ceramic centrepiece exclusive artwork line “serie H”
The raku ceramic centrepiece with a modern and contemporary design, is moulded, finished and decorated by hand by Master Giuseppe Liberati. It is part of the series of artworks called “Serie H”. The clay making was made following artisanal methods and the extremely finished decoration is the result of a deeply-rooted experience in the Italian artistic craftsmanship.
An artistic flair brought the Master to create a series of artwork using different methods and techniques, recognisable by the stamped H sign. The aim of this symbol is to represent the vocal letter Eta (H; η) of the Greek alphabet. In the numeric system of the ancient Greek, the letter Eta had the value of 8 which, in turn, is one of the most ancient symbols ever represented. 8 is the number of the Compass Rose, of the Tower of the Winds, of petals in a lotus flower and then of the paths in the Buddhist terminology. In addition, H (‘acca’ in Italian), which is a mute consonant in the Italian alphabet, in Master Liberati’s opinion means something that is not pronounced, not to be expressed using words.
The variety of the 8 symbology inspired the Master to represent with the letter “H” the continuity, infinity and complexity of his artistic career, which is difficult to express using words but narrated by his artworks with different styles and techniques. The centrepiece was moulded and finished by hand using raku technique. This technique was invented in Japan by an artisan named Chojiro. The main difference between majolica (traditional ceramic) and raku is that for the first one the object slowly cools down, while for the second one the object is extracted by the oven still incandescent. Therefore, the oxygen reduction and the thermic shock allow to obtain, sometimes, unpredictable and unique chromatic effects with particular shades.
The centrepiece surface has been decorated using different techniques and thanks to the changing shades it can be divided in three bands: lower, central and upper. The lower band is characterised by a darker coloration with green, grey and clack shades. In the central part there are some handmade vertical engravings and some embossed part in light and dark grey shades. The upper band is light grey, here we can find the letter H engraved. The artwork has irregular edges, in perfect harmony with the contemporary style.
The raku ceramic centrepiece with irregular edges, part of an exclusive H series, was made in modern home design style and it is an artwork which reflects the trends of the contemporary Italian ceramic. When purchasing, to the object there will be attached a Guarantee Certificate as a warranty of the craftsmanship of the product. Unique piece.
