Modern ceramic panel
Modern ceramic panel “Vele in Libertà”, with steel support
The artistic ceramic panel “Vele in Libertà”, is an artistic ceramic artwork made with mixed technique, majolica and gres by Master ceramist Giuseppe Liberati. The panel consists of a ceramic sculpture depicting stylised sails mounted on a corten steel support. All the phases of the panel making, from moulding to decorative finish, are the result of Master Liberati’s creative inspiration and technical abilities, both recalling the best artistica Italian ceramic tradition.
The wall panel named “Vele in Libertà”for interior design is made in modern style and it perfectly recalls the style of contemporary ceramics art both in its concept and artisanal making. Last but not least, its manufacturing follows antique ceramic making techniques but with a modern revisitation. For the artwork creation was used a mixed technique using different kinds of clays: clay for majolica and gres, the latter is part of the so-called “compact paste” ceramics because it is really hard and resistant, difficult to scratch even with sharped steel points. The making of the ceramic work on corten steel was very complex because the surface has been enriched with decorative, embossed elements, precisely attached by hand during the different clay-making phases. The particular colours and the chromatic match have been obtained by using glazes and pigments made by the Master Liberati in person, which have completely unique tactile effects.
The panel consists of two parts different but, at the same time, very similar which represent moving sails in two opposite directions. A game of geometric figures, which depict the triangle, and at the same time the square complex symbology as well as the numbers three and four. The interpretation of the sails and freedom that the Master Liberati wanted to represent finds its inspiration in the personal interpretative soul of the artist. The reference to marine colours such as the blue with turquoise reflections and che golden sand colour are a strong evocation to the elements linked to the marine environment. The support used to build up the ceramic work is a panel made of corten steel with an oxidised chromatic tone that makes the artwork extremely elegant.
The modern ceramic panel “Vele in Libertà” made by the ceramist Master Giuseppe Liberati is a decorative artwork for modern and contemporary style furnishing. At the back of the corten steel, the panel has some hooks so the panel it’s ready to be hung on the wall. The artwork is an unique piece and it is not reproducible.
