The handmade, modern panel is handmade in Italy and is a not reproducible, unique piece. The artwork has ceramist Master Giuseppe Liberati’s signature on. The semi-refractory ceramic panel is moulded and decorated by hand. Its decoration recalls a repetition of spirals in a vivid red color.
The spiral, painted or embossed, has been appearing as a decorative element since the cave paintings in the Ancient Egypt, then became a typical decoration of architectural classical art. There are different interpretations of the meaning of the spiral decoration, all based on different cultures, representations and certainties. In fine arts the “spiral” meaning is usually related to the artist conceptual idea: emanation, extension, development, cyclic continuity and creation, all explained by the line starting from an exact point.
The ceramic part is made of semi-refractory black clay. Semi-refractory clays, also called “Semire clays” are particular mixtures that can be included in the category of the “unconventional” ceramics. The term “semi-refractory” refers to ceramic objects cooked at temperatures between 1000° and 1300°C, composed of clay mixtures with a porous or partially vitrified effect after cooking. This particular type of black clay, is suitable for the creation of decorative or artistic works. The steel support of the panel has been processed and adapted to the artwork. The support is equipped with hooks, ready to be hung on the wall.
The chromatic range is perfectly balanced thanks to the study for the application of glazes and colours when performing the raku technique. This piece is particularly suitable to be exposed in bright spots, in order to enhance the beauty of its warm tones. Moulded and decorated by hand. Unique piece, not reproducible.
