Semi-refractory clay centrepiece with thick crystals
Semi-refractory clay centrepiece with thick crystals, hand-decorated
The semi-refractory ceramic centrepiece was moulded by hand using red clay and decorated with a hand-painted band and thick crystals. The contemporary artefact is a unique piece, non reproducible, in perfect Italian ceramic contemporary style. The clay processing was entirely artisanal, following the best potter’s wheel techniques.
The semi-refractory clay used for the making of the centrepiece has a high resistance to high temperatures and it is suitable to make ceramic objects even in large sizes. The effect obtained using this kind of clay is rough to the touch but, after being glazed, the surface became smoother. The outer surface of the bottom of the centrepiece is warm red, which is the natural clay colouring obtained during the cooking without adding any other substance. On the other hand, the plate inner surface was carefully hand-decorated with some continuous, wavy, light-coloured lines with and red dots on a grey-black surface. The center of the plate is enriched with some thick crystals on a green-yellowish base, creating a perfect harmony with the dark background and the light colour of the decorative lines.
The semi-refractory clay centrepiece is hand-moulded by the ceramist master Giuseppe Liberati and has his own signature. This artwork represents a unique piece of Italian contemporary ceramics. When purchasing the object, a Guarantee Certificate will be attached to prove the craftsmanship of the work.
