Bowtie Popeye
The name of the decoration is a tribute to Popeye the Sailor Man, the American imaginary character created by Elzie Crisler Segar. The character appeared for the first time in 1928 in the comics Thimble Theatre, that was later named Popeye. With his girlfriend Olivia, Popeye is one of the most famous comics characters ever, to whom lately was also dedicated a short cartoon series. The bowtie decoration represents dark ablue anchors, sailors’ symbol, and red hearts, symbol of the love between Popeye and his girlfriend. The symbolic recall of anchors and hearts may be interpreted as a reference to the passion for the sea and sailing. The decoration of the bowtie is coloured and made with digital printing techniques.
